Early morning…

Hello February! Where did January Go???

Well good morning… I guess…. If you know me at all you know,  I’m so not a morning person. That’s why I work at night, so I have the excuse to sleep past noon and not be judged. Well that is one of many reasons. This is just all part of the new and unfortunate routine. This just means bed time will be extra early today, and it will definitely include a nap. I however have been very productive, 3 loads of laundry, and 1 kid to school (dressed and lunch made), but at least 3 more loads of laundry to go and school work. No wonder I have so many grays.

So i did get to go to some new place these last couple of days. Saturday in between work I went to Beaver’s for my breakfast/lunch. I had their queso, it was highly recommended, and their mac and cheese (that’s how I found out about them). Cheese and cheese was on the menu, and it was delicious. Their spicy Paloma was an interesting and nice surprise. Last night I finally went to go check out the new Ipic theater. First of that whole entire shopping area is beautiful. Not to mention Dior and Cartier are right there. I wish I would have snapped a picture of the the streets with all the trees lit up. So Ipic feels nothing like a regular theater. Like you could go there just for the drinks and yummy food. Dirty Granpa was the movie of choice and it was pretty ridiculously funny, but def not for kids and there are plenty of sexual innuendos to go around. Not bad for a Monday night.

The question of the moment really is, what’s up with FPSF this year?? They haven’t even updated the website, nothing has been released with dates either.. Are we even having one??? Someone needs to find out STAT!

Also ladies MANGO is having a sale… you’ll thank me later!!

XOXO

It’s getting harder….

Today I realized that I had not posted my recent adventures from the previous days off. I guess you can say I’m in a funk. The stress of life, school, and work makes certain things harder. Like when people leave me, either by relocation or being called to heaven. This is all about relocation, no worries no one has died, yet, but i’m sure that’s next. I feel like everyone leaves me and I’m just standing still. I guess that’s just lifes cruel joke. What’s is even worse is the realization that I will never see them with all five senses again. You know, when you hug someone. Think about it, it takes all five senses. The thought alone calls for misty eyes.

This past weekend wasn’t a very eventful one but I spend it with a soul I was glad to meet. Needless to say, It has been an amazing two weeks and I will miss them. We went to Ambrosia for dinner Saturday night. A different take on tapas in this, you would never know it was there place. A bit spicy for my taste, but the curry fries and the flatbread were delicious. Then I had the privilege to go to a friends book signing. Who know I had such talented friends – well if you didn’t know-  I DO! No worries no crazy drunken story afterwards, literally called it a night without knowing. I guess I was exhausted and went to bed super early.

This line may sound crazy, after all of these years of loving on Barnaby’s, I had never had their breakfast until this past Sunday. Yes it’s true, but oh man was I missing it out. Not only was it a beautiful day but it was a nice walk to get there. The reward was the made with love french toast and amazing company. That was the preface to loads of school work and laundry I had waiting for me, and another early night. Monday was not much different other than I took my son to Chuck E Cheese.

My apologizes for the anti-climatic ending to this post, but I have to get the day started.

XOXO

Weekend update… I guess

So live has taken over and I haven’t been able to write. The struggle is real to get back to ‘normal’ life. No more vacation time for a while, school is back in session and I have to start packing up my life. The daily grind is hard for us night shifters, that delicate balance of sleep and sanity. It is specially hard with all the time off I have had lately.

Macklemore saturday was delicious and fun. Went to Bovine and Barley for dinner with my bestie. Do yourself the favor and get the steak bruschetta and not the chicken lollipops, and the queso is really good too. Walking into Reinvention Center and hearing that the show you paid to go see has already started was a little disappointing. The tickets said 8pm, when has anyone ever gone on stage on time. Madonna just last week was over an hour late. Regardless what we caught of the show, it was pretty amazing. I wonder if JJ Watt was in the building since they are friends … 🙂  After the show I had drinks with a friend at Boheme, love that place. While there I overheard people talking about a Colombian food truck. Los Perros Houston, the verdict – good but not worth the hour it took to find it and get the actual food.

Sunday and Monday were consumed with work 😦  , Wednesday insomnia kicked in at the lovely hour of 11:30am, so I went to the nail salon – Venetian nails at La Centerra is like the only place I go. I did however go to dinner at El Tiempo on Westheimer, which I didn’t realize until I pulled in – the old La Strada. I have always gone to the Navigation location, but it was the same. Amazing food and margaritas, and for some reason the queso was even better this time. For dessert I went by the Chocolate Bar, haven’t been there in forever, so why not.

Who knows what tonight will bring, but for now school work that has to get done. I know i have a Medical Terminology test Monday over 6 chapters. UGH! So for now I leave you with a bit from the show on Saturday.
