Lazy Sunday

Wishful thinking…. that I could lay here all day. Looking forward to my next couple days off. Whats sad is the amout of random things I need to get done. Can’t wait to just be able to veg out. I guess I just need a vacation, maybe even a Mexi-coma. Work has been stressful, new place is coming along, and the dearest situation is very much in the unknown. I don’t know what it is, me or them, regardless it is very frustrating.

I did get to go out for some adult time with friends on Thursday at Down The Street. I’ve been there a couple times, very cool place and from my visit … Delicious food. Saturday afternoon was spent in the heights. First stop, Lee’s for some cream of corn. I really went for a donut so it would hold me over for lunch, but they were out. Then I stopped by Vinyl Edge Records. I must say that my love for vinyl came from the collection my mother had when we lived in Colombia when I was little.

I was like a kid in a candy store. I went in to look for some Elton John and Patsy Cline but they didn’t have any. Almost bought a Janis Joplin that was super expensive, so I put it back like a good girl. Found Coldplay Parachutes, Fleetwood Mac, Mamas and the Papas, and Etta James. The Mamas and the Papas is original from 1973.. Pretty cool.

Lunch was spent with my soul sister and best friend. I had chips and queso with a couple breakfast tacos. We ate at Tacos A go go off White Oak. Still love Torchys the more I try other places. Goes to show you how much I like normalcy and stability.

Well definitely looking forward to the next couple of days off.. We will see what I can get into then…

Long Weeks

Man it sure has been a long couple of weeks. Between working, packing, and moving I need a vacation. I worked 7 out of  8 days, with only 36 hours off I used it for packing. Then I got my keys, very big girl moment and dove right into getting my place all squared away. So I whisked my parents over to IKEA, mainly for help with the cart pushing. Two flat bed carts, a bag cart, and a grand later, YIKES. Don’t get me wrong I love IKEA, but the day that I can furnish my whole entire house with Pottery Barn, I will. Two barstools, two small bookshelves, and no injuries until i got to the dresser drawers. I had never been pinched so hard that it left a hematoma.

Needless to say my left index finger became completely useless. I spent most of last Thursday packing getting ready for Truck Friday, and my by the time I thought I was done, there was actually still thing hiding in the closet. The movers came and went and my closet was still there, waiting for me. Lesson learned though, never not putting everything in a box and never trying to move on my own. Paying for someone to move you, is a great investment. I mean ask my crazy bruises. By Saturday afternoon i was pretty settled in. Took a nap even.

Thank god for my bestfriend whisking me away for some adult fun time. Local Pour was the spot of choice. Pretty place, older crowd, drinks were good, and there was a live cover band. Not a bad choice for a random saturday night. Afterwards we went to Velvet Taco, and yes I had not been there, Not really impressed since I do have major love for Torchys. What can I say, I like what I like. Morning came with the painful reminder of too many drinks and shots in a small amount of time. Mind you we didn’t even get to the bar till 12:30. My snaps said that I was hysterical, my laundry list of drunken text said another. Can someone take the phone away next time sheesh. As I cleaned up my mess I was accused of being a party girl. Wow jerk you think that now, you should have met me ten years ago when i went out six days a week and had three jobs.

Brunch fixes all, well most of the time. Revival market was amazing and just what the doctor ordered. Cappuccino, eggs over easy, bacon and toast. Perfect end to the adult time, since I had quite a bit of school stuff to do. That pretty much sums up everything. Now back to the routine, and who knows how long i’ll have to stay in.

XOXO

Super Bowl of Med Term

First of, where does the weekend go??? The week goes by so horribly slow but saturday and sunday are gone with a flash!!! Well I can’t say I did much other than conquer the 400+ question of medical terminology I needed to do, to do a quiz and a test in the next couple of days. If you didn’t know, now a year and a half ago, I went back to school. Working in the ER gave me my true calling, RN, so I went back to get my BSN. Lets just say it is a burning bicycle. What was I thinking!! Oh well now I need to just keep going so I can actually finish, hopefully.

But to the Big Game – The Denver Broncos have won again. Is anyone pissed about this. I know I am. Congratulations to the handful of ex-Texans players and coaches. I mean really that should have been us.

I did get to check out a new place on my ‘weekend’, Lee’s Fried Chicken and Donuts. AMAZING! Took my parents there for lunch, other than the batter having maybe a bit too much pepper, the chicken was perfect. The cream of corn and mashed potatoes were on point too. Can’t really complain, but the next stop is a place i’ve been wanting to check out – and it is right across the street.

Taxes done, moving jitters, money anxiety, what’s new. Well I will have to leave you, since I sadly work the next 8 days (with the exception of friday) at least temporarily.

XOXO
